The Abbot of Chedar

A new Abbot came to govern Chedar in the year 571. He was young in years, 32, but a principled member of the clergy and a lauded member of the Church. One day he received the Tax Collector, as is customary for Abbots, to meet and to survey who would be taken.

The room upon discovery laid empty. Only the Tax Collector did exit.

Penned in the Abbot’s book was a note, in a scrawled hand: “Sicko.”
